“Map4Parenting – Creating-a-Memory” by Trevor Farley
“Invest in children today, not repairmen tomorrow.” ~ Trevor Farley
Being a parent is not an easy job and your children will seldom make it easier for you. In the words of Bette Davis: “If you have never been hated by your child you have never been a parent.” Just when you think you understand what you need to know, your child responds unexpectedly, totally contrary to the advice you have recently received from a fellow parent who is in the same boat as you, being tossed about by the ‘waves’ of turbulent parenthood. In this book you will be able to use the 5 Step MAP4LIFE™ Life Management Process to develop a MAP (My Action Plan) for parenting. MAP4PARENTING is packed full insightful information, practical suggestions and inspiring messages.

Foreword: Map4Parenting
Dr Michael Mol
I am replaceable. As a doctor, as a CEO, a presenter, a speaker, a team-mate … in virtually all aspects of what I do, except for one… I am NOT replaceable as a parent, and that makes it the most important role I will ever play in my life. And if you’re a parent – then it’s the same for you.
My father once wrote a book on parenting. It was probably the craziest and most courageous thing he’s ever done, to assume to have insights into such a vital role amidst a minefield of good and bad advice. I’ve never actually read it cover to cover, but then I never had to because he modelled fatherhood for me. “Who you are speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you’re saying,” said Emerson famously. Translation … my three kids won’t remember much of what I said, but they’ll never forget how I lived and who I was. It’s called modelling and it’s just one of eight pearls of wisdom that Trevor unpacks in this resourcefully rich pocket-book for parenting.
What I’ve appreciated most about his approach to Map4Parenting is that he’s not dictating how I should parent. No-one should or can do that, because no child is the same and no circumstances are identical. Instead he’s offering a route-map, a chart that allows me to plot my own way through this God-given journey, in a way that’s relevant for my family, for this season of our lives. Out of these few succinct pages crammed with time-tested wisdom – we get to design our own parenting plan, to navigate a journey that will give my children greater odds of surviving their Mom & Dad’s untutored approach to being parents.
So if you, like me, often find yourself thrashing about in a sea of uncertainty around parenthood – then Map4parenting is for you. You’ll find it to be both comforting and challenging, offering caution, insights and suggestions that give you the edge you need to face another day of being called Mom or Dad.
Keep it close – ‘cause we need all the help we can get when it comes to the greatest calling we’ve ever been given … parenthood.
